Abu Nuwas wrote this 800 after Christ about the Saluki.
When I was a young girl of 13 years, I always wanted to draw every single dog-breed that exists with information on them... I started writing down about 350 breeds I knew *from my memory, I always was a dog-freak :3* but only painted about 5 or so^^"
Well then, I want to get hold on this project again ^o^ And started off with one of my fav. dogs, the Saluki <3
The Saluki comes from Iran, it is said, that the name comes from a very old, meanwhile lost city called Saluk. The first paintings showing a Saluki-type of dog is dated ca. 3600 BC.
Those dogs were named "EL Hor" meaning the nobel/ precious one-which matches them very well, as the whole apperience of the dog is majesty.
